Midfielder Andreas Pereira believes his career has “turned a new page” since deciding to leave Man United.
In the summer of 2022, Andreas Pereira left Man United to join Fulham for 9.5 million euros. In his most recent interview with The Evening Standard, the midfielder shared his decision to leave Old Trafford to join Craven Cottage.
“I think leaving Man United was the best decision of my career. At Fulham, I enjoyed my football, got back into the national team with great players.
“When I was at Man United, I was very proud to play for a great club. But I have no regrets about leaving. Players in my situation want to prove the coaches wrong by not using them,” Pereira said.
Andreas Pereira was recruited by Man United U18 from PSV U17 in 2012. In July 2015, the Brazilian midfielder was officially promoted to the Red Devils’ first team. Pereira has never been a priority choice for any coach at Old Trafford. Since the 2016-17 season, he has been continuously loaned to Granada, Valencia, Lazio and Flamengo.
After 7 years at Old Trafford, Pereira has only played 75 games in all competitions, scoring 4 goals and making 5 assists. In July 2022, he decided to leave Man United when he realized that the future was not bright under Erik ten Hag.
Andreas Pereira has been a regular starter for Fulham under Marco Silva. In the past two seasons alone, the midfielder has made 82 appearances in all competitions for the Cottagers, scoring eight goals and providing 15 assists. His form has even earned him a call-up to the Brazilian national team in March. This is the first time the 28-year-old has played for the Selecao since September 2018.
Also in the interview, Pereira said that Fulham is being underestimated due to the continuous period of promotion and relegation from 2017-2022. At the same time, this midfielder also praised coach Silva, saying that the Portuguese strategist is an important piece in Fulham’s goal of participating in the European Cup.
Fulham have been doing quite well in the last two seasons. This summer, The Cottagers are trying to strengthen their squad after the departure of Joao Palhinha. Fulham have signed Ryan Sessegnon, agreed a deal to recruit Emile Smith Rowe and are pursuing Scott McTominay.
